FOOTBALL
Jack played DHS varsity football for 6 years. He played offensive & defensive tackle, & offensive end.
He was honorable mention All State in 1951, 2nd team All State in 1952, & named All-American in 1953.
He was named on the 1951-1986 DHS All-Time Team as a Defensive Lineman.
He was an outstanding punter. He had scholarship offers to UK, Tennessee, & others but elected to play for Centre College &, at that time, held the national record for the longest punt (97 yards).
BASKETBALL
Jack also was a basketball starter for 4 years.
He was selected on the 12th Regional All-Tournament team in 1953. He was the starting center in the East-West KY All Star game and on the winning team.
He held the DHS shot-put record for nearly 40 years.
FOOTBALL
Fr. & Soph years at Eastern High School. Jr. & Sr. years at DHS.
Captain. 1st team All-State. All CKC.
Sunkist All American. Played in East-West All Star game.
Voted on 1951-1986 DHS All Time as DL.
Played at Morehead & was Captain & was All-OVC Tight End.
Eagle Board X 2 years.
BASKETBALL: X 2 at DHS. Captain. All District, All-Region, All CKC. Won a Free Throw Contest.
TRACK: X 2years at DHS. Threw discus & Mile Relay member which won in CKC & Region.
SWIMMING:
5yrs, MVP X4, captain X1,
Still holds DHS record time in 50 yd freestyle & 100 yd. backstroke, finished in top 8 in 7 individual events in state meet.
TENNIS x4.
TRACK x1.
On UK swim team x 4 yrs.
Named KHSAA Outstanding Swimming Official in 2006
FOOTBALL
Played varsity 4 years. Starting Guard for 3 years. All CKC X 2 years. Honorable mention All State in 1943. 1st Team All State in 1944. Captain X 2 years. Named as Lineman on DHS All Time team for 1925-50. During his 3 years as a starter, DHS lost only 3 games & had 1 tie. Blocked several punts during his days & one was responsible for upset win over Henry Clay 8-6 with a blocked punt & recovery in end zone for a TD.
Football scholarship to UK under Paul Bryant & career ended his freshman year due to shoulder injury.
BASKETBALL
lettered 4 years. Starter X 1 year. Made 45th District tourney team. Elected to DHS Student Hall of Fame in Senior Year. Also, was Student Body President his Senior Year.
CROSS COUNTRY:
1989 Individual State Cross Country Champion & Voted Overall Classes KY Runner of the Year & Defeated all top runners in the state in head to head competition.

1987 Instrumental in DHS team finish 2nd place in State. Individual Regional CC Champion X 5 years! (85,86,87,88,89)
Began CC in mid-season in 8th grade & won region & placed 10th in state, Holds DHS home course record.
Progression in State tourney: Gr. 8 10th, Gr. 9 7th, Gr. 10 4th, Gr. 11 1st, Gr. 12 1st. Set numerous course records every year. Was All-State 5 years.
TRACK:
Member of 3 Outdoor State Championship teams (88,89,90)
In 1998, Reg. Champ in 800, 1600, 3200 & 2nd in State in 800, 1600, 3200. In 1999, Reg Champ & State Champ in 1600 & 3200. In 1990, Reg Champ & State Champ in 1600 & 3200. Was All-State 3 years in Track
